Well it was another banger for the ducks. They went out, they played for 60 minutes, and even when they werent having the best shifts they scored goals.

You can guess that alot of the recent luck has come from the likes of the man below:

But its also come from the Goal Squad of Teemu Selanne, Saku Koivu, and Jason Blake.  Those three have been able to find the back of the net quite often, and i only hope it continues.  Last night they were able help Teemu Selanne tie Jari Kurri for 601 Goals.

So congrats to Teemu on his 601, personally i was kind of hoping he would stay at 600 so he would come back next season to get 601. But in any event i am glad to see him get this achievement.

The Anaheim Ducks have quite a few good rookies on the squad, with Bonino looking like a natural, Bodie banging heads, Belesky making smart plays, its going to be wonderful watching the 2010-2010 NHL Season.

There is one Veteran player who i am personally a big fan of, but as of recently has started to play some great hockey, and thats George Parros.

Recently he has made some very smart plays, and even contributed a goal a few games ago.  Parros is always in front of the net but i would love to see him start playing a little more aggressive when hes at the top of the crease.

Parros is a great inspiration for many reasons, and i would love to get the chance to sit down and chat with him.  From graduating Ivy League to doing what he loves to do most, Hats off to the man George Parros.

So last night i had the honor of being in attendance for the Teemu Selanne’s 600 Ceremony and it was very well done. Before the game they rolled out the red carpets, and had the Selanne family, Jari Kurri, and the Samuelis. While presenting Selanne a plaque for his amazing career achievement.

After the presentation Kent French interviews Selanne, it was amazing to see how nervous he was. Although i’m unaware of the reason, Kent’s had was shaking tremendously while he was interviewing Selanne. To me it proves as a testimate as to how big this achievement actually was.

This night for me was bitter sweet, i can see that Selanne is thinking that he will not be coming back to play next year now that he has reached this achievement. I hope i am wrong because there are a few good kids on the ducks that could use the experience and guidance that Selanne provides to improve their games.

Speaking of which, the new kid on the block Nick Bonino scored his first NHL Goal last night and it was nice to see him get it out of the way early. Bonino received his first big NHL hit last game, and now that he has his first NHL goal out of the way, the jitters should be gone and now hes ready to rock and roll.

The rest of the game was very well played, Curtis McElhinney had a phenomenal game in goal in his second appearance.  Although the Score was only 3-1 in favor of the Ducks, it was pretty much a shooting gallery for them all night.  The Ducks may have had a Season high with 46 Shots on goal.

I normally stick around till after the 3 stars and i’m glad i did last night, Teemu Selanne looking for Goal 601 flipped the puck from center ice last night towards the empty net and missed by about a foot.  I would have loved to see him tie Jari Kurri, while he was in attendance.

Well it was an eventful game to say the least, full of hard hits, fights, and goals.

The Ducks really played the game well last night, with passion, intensity, and overall don’t quit attitude.

Bobby Ryan opened up the scoring for the ducks in the first period on a fantastic feed from Perry.  It was refreshing to see the Ducks on the board first.  Although the Blackhawks were able to put one past Hiller before the end of the first frame, things were looking up for the ducks heading into the locker room.

The Second period is where things started to get interesting, in more ways then just the Hockey game.  Generally where i sit at the games there are pretty informative Hockey fans around, well last night was quite different.   In front of me were 2 ladies in their 40′s who smelled like your grandmothers perfume.  And in front of them, was one of the botox beauties from “The Real Housewives of Orange County”. If you want to know which one let me know.

So in any event, half of my section didnt even know what they were cheering about, but thats no matter.  Its plain and simple that if you didnt cheer after this retaliation hit from Wisnewski on Seabrook you shouldnt have been at a hockey game.

Back to the goal scoring, we havent seen a lot of this in the 2009-2010 NHL Season, but the ducks were able to rack up a Short Handed Goal from the hands of Todd Marchant.

Needless to say the game was eventful, and was well played by the ducks, they have one more at home on Friday against the Islanders, and another on Sunday vs the Avalanche if they can win both games they will take home 9 out of a possible 14 on this home stand.

Well last nights game was just straight disappointing.  I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the game last night at The Honda Center, but it was unfortunate that the highlight of the evening was a tie between Ryan Getzlaf beating the crap out of Tyutin and my fiancé cracking jokes about how George Parros’s mustache wiggles when he talks.

In any event, the Ducks were flat footed, they didn’t move on the ice, and its exactly what cost them the game.  There was a point in i believe the second period, where the Ducks defense-man was setting up the play from behind his goaltender, the only problem was that there were two Ducks standing still at the outside hash-marks while two Columbus players  steadily circled inside the Ducks Zone.  This probably lasted about a good 15 seconds before they made any sort of ungraceful movement.

Although the score seems to suggest this was some sort of blowout, it definitely was not.  The Ducks had a fair share of scoring opportunities but seemed to always fail to be at the right place at the right time.  Most of the Ducks sat on the outside and rarely gave any substantial pressure to Mathieu Garon.

In the Second Period, Randy Carlisle made the decision to pull Joans Hiller.  In my opinion Hiller was not the problem at all, but this was after an amazingly well place goal by Coloumbus Blue Jacket, Fedor Tyutin.  From my seat I was practically over the shoulder of Tyutin, and while Jonas Hiller was locked to the side of the net, Tyutin placed the puck in about a 6 inch hole between Hiller’s shoulder and the corner of the net.

With 5 difficult opponents left to be faced at the Honda Center this is going to be do or die time for the Ducks.  It’s extremely clear that the Ducks are emotional about the games not going their way.  Im hoping that the Ducks are able to pull it together for this last stretch of the season so they can play golf in June and not in April!

Canadiens Vs Ducks

This game was an extremely tough loss for the Ducks.  After leading the game by two or more goals for 58 minutes during the game, the ducks had a crucial breakdown allowing the Habs to make 2 goals in teh final two minutes of play to force an extra 5 minutes.

Something I’ve seen over and over with the ducks is a strong start and lack of movement during the final two frames.

The make it or break it point came in the shootout in what seemed to be like a fantastic save by Jonas Hiller.  After making the shootout save Hiller went to stand up at which point the puck trickled behind him and over the line.  After re-watching this a couple of times, a sad and true fact came to light.  Hiller stood up before the Referee called the play dead.

You cant put all the blame on Jonas for the loss, but i’m sure hes feeling pretty bad about that save.   Corey Perry got a bit emotional towards the end of the game with some slashes and facewashes after getting struck by a elbow, which i’m sure didn’t help the overall situation.

All in All, this final home stretch is really the last solid chance the ducks have at running for a playoff spot.  In such a tight Western Conference, loosing at home is not an option!  With the addition of Ward and Visnovsky in the play, if the chemistry starts to kick in i’m confident in the Ducks ability to secure a playoff birth.

Ducks Vs Coyotes

Well I can honestly say i’m pretty disappointed in tonight s performance in the Anaheim Ducks Vs Phoenix Coyotes.

Tonight the ducks had a very “fresh” lineup, they struggled to find the right chemistry which is critical when trying to find the back of the net.  Jonas Hiller didn’t play the best game of the season but he did (for the first 2 periods) give his team a chance to win.  The Coyotes who have been on a hot streak have been finding the formula to really continue to put the pressure on the 1st place sharks and Chicago Black hawks in the western conference.

the ducks tonight were faced with a team on a rising hot streak.  The former Anaheim Duck Ilya Bryzgalov has been moving along quite confidently in the NHL tacking team after team.  as of tonight Bryzgalov has become the leader in wins for the franchise.  In irony it was announced by Anaheim Ducks commentator Bryan Hayword, who is the former holder of that record!

In any event it was not the greatest showing for the Anaheim Ducks this season and they have a game tomorrow 5Pm PST, and i hope they can break the curse of the this season when it comes to back to back games.

Tomorrow night Ducks and Habs @ The Honda Center.

It’s so good to be back to NHL Hockey.  As much as I truley enjoyed watching the Olympic tournament, it was bitter sweet watching Perry, Niedermayer, and Getzlaf celebrating while Whitney and Ryan hung ther head in disappointment.   They really had so much to be happy about being they were being considered a long shot when the tournament started.

Last night it was back to business as usual for the Ducks.  They had a fantastic first period getting solid checks and getting the puck in deep.  Blake had a nice hard fought power play goal at 16:11. But with the Avalanche committing 3 penalties in the first period the ducks needed to capitalize on this opportunity and put the puck behind Craig Anderson.

Second period was quite a bit of a shocker.  I’m pretty sure that the referees and linesmen were taking a nap for a good part of the period.  The next goal was scored by Selanne but as much as i love the ducks, shouldn’t have been a goal.  It was quite clear that when Selanne, Blake and Koivu were coming into the zone Selanne was about 15 feet in front of the blue line which allowed him to get in behind the defense men to get a puck on a platter from Blake.  Needless to say by the end of the second period there were about 3 other obvious bad calls one being the “Charging” call on Mike Brown which put the ducks down a man late in the 3rd period.  Its very clear that the Avalanche player sold the ref the Brooklyn bridge.

Third period was a fight that was unfortunately also won by the Avalanche.  The Ducks continued to be plagued by penalties and on each occasion The Avalanche brought it hard and usually scored.  With 2 more power play goals by the Avalanche in the middle of the third period the ducks had to keep pushing to even the gap.

With the Ducks down by 2 with 3:05 to go in the game Niedermayer puts the puck in the back of the net.  Being a Ducks fan for quite a few years I know that the Ducks coming back late in the third period to tie the game is not far fetched at all.  But with the score 4-3 the Ducks couldn’t get one more.

This game put an end to an 11 game home winning streak for the ducks.  In my opinion they could have won this game.  If they came out like they did in the first period and kept moving the puck in deep and stopped trying to make fancy plays they could of had a solid shot.  It also didn’t help the fact that the Ducks had 9 penalties.  out of the 7 goals total, 5 were on the power play.  It’s nice to see the Ducks power play performing well, but at the same time it disappoints to see the penalty kill perform so poorly.

The good news is we have reinforcements on the way, with all the moves at the deadline yesterday we only had 5 defense men in the rotation, but in the coming days as the acquired get to southern California im excited to see what Saturday’s game is going to bring.
